Our daughter, Vivian Marie, was born alive yesterday at 1:50 p.m. She was immediately baptized and got to be held by friends and family. Her older brother Jonathan, as he had wished, taught Vivian how to play garbage trucks. Vivian melted our hearts by making cute baby noises, one of which sounded just like "Mommy," and trying her best to nurse. She was quite ticklish, on her feet especially.
Vivian passed away this morning around 5:10 due to effects of her anencephaly. We are very sad, of course, but also very grateful for the 15 hours of life that she was given to share with us. Love has no time constraints.

Dear Kyle, Genece and Jonathan (and all of your loved ones) -- It has been our privilege to stand alongside you in prayer. Our hearts ache for your loss. Truly Vivian is Heaven's gain. What a miracle that she went full term, was born alive and had these 15 hours with you. May these precious bittersweet memories sustain you throughout the coming months as you grieve. Thank you for your profound witness to life and to love. God bless you!!! Kimberly Hahn for the Hahn family
I am moved beyond words. God bless you. Accept my condolences. Your precious little saint in Heaven will always be with you.
Kyle, Gen and Jonathan-
Words can't express the pain and hurt that you are going through at this time. When we heard of Vivian's diagnosis our hearts broke for your family. I know you are strong in your faith and that will not waiver. It is such a blessing that she was baptised and you were able to spend time with her. As I am sure you know, she has touched so many lives many of whom you will never be aware of. What a witness she was.
May God watch over your family and bless you in this terribly difficult time in your lives.
Thank you all. I have added a couple of pictures to this post and published another picture in a separate post.
May God reward you for your witness to the healing balm of His love.
Saint Vivian Marie, pray for us!
May we someday all join Vivian in beholding the Beatific Vision.
God bless your beautiful family. Thank you for your powerful and hopeful witness.

Thank you so much for sharing Vivian. Her and her family will be in my prayers.
Kyle, my name is Vivian. Almost 12 years ago I had a daughter with anencephaly. Her name was Gabrielle Vivian. My husband and I felt and experienced many of the emotions you speak of here. We got the diagnosis at 16 weeks. I carried to term. We were blessed to have her with us for 9 days. I do still feel some sadness a dozen years later. But I wouldn't have traded the experience for anything. Gabrielle was exactly as she was supposed to be. She did exactly what she came to do. I may never know how far her presence extends. But God does. And He is infinitely wise. Thanks for sharing your story.
